Clients ask me if I can guarantee a timeline, as it is one of the most frequently asked questions. Unfortunately, the answer is NO. It is difficult to predict how long it may take to produce a court order. There are many factors at play. The court, the venue, the judge, the backlog, etc…As an example I assisted a woman in one county for a court order to release a New York State Department of Health birth certificate, and the judge signed the order in approximately 2 weeks. Prior results do not guarantee future outcomes! I did a similar type of case to release New York State Department of Health birth certificate in another county and it took several months. For starters, right out of the gate and from jump street, the judge gave a court date that was 2 months out into the future! These proceedings are complex, and require a well versed knowledge of civl procedure. They also have the potential to go south. There’s a lot of subtlety and nuance involved. Clients that know the difference engage a knowledgeable professional because it is worth the investment.
